+ A Beautiful Thing +
Being in a band has probably been the biggest change in my life since joining the army. And hell, it sure ain't all rainbows and butterflies. Suddenly your mind associates music with work... until your love for music reminds you what this is really all about. 5 guys co-operatin to create music. Muscles ache after carrying equipment all over the place... egos have been bruised... friendships have been strained... minds have been exhausted.... but in all honesty, i love this band... and i love my friends in this band... (i assure you, in a perfectly non-gay sorta way)... i feel this is really a beautiful thing, and what we're working towards is also a beautiful thing... there's jus no other way to describe it. I don't know what will become of this band, of its songs, of its people, of its efforts.... but for all its worth, i still thank God for it, its still a beautiful thing.

+ pretty impressive quiz... +
+ Rule 1 : You do not talk about Fight Club +
okay, time to break Rule 1. The recent hype over Ocean's 12 has brought me to reminesce over 1 of the coolest shows of the last century. Rewind the tapes to 1999. An insomniac living the hellish rat race of the commercial world tries to buy happiness (haha... loser) to no avail.(duh) He meets his polar opposite, a soap dealer who scrapes a living from whateva life offers. They find self-actualisation in beating the daylights outta each other. "How much can u possibily know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?" Idea gets popular, fight clubs start appearing in every major city. Fight Clubs turn into anti-commercialism terrorists. Throw in a girl between the 2 leaders, add one helluva twist to the ending. Yup, i have a thing for anti-hero flicks. Maybe because many hero-type flicks i know turned out to be bullshit. The mindless dribble of The Rambo trilogy, both "Resident Evil"s and "The Punisher" come to mind. While a bunch of thieves and conmen in Oceans 11 & 12 can so easily steal our hearts. (pun not intended) Cheers to the anti-hero movies of this century and the last! *Raises wine glass*

+ 12 is the new 11 +
2 weeks ago i was thinking: "This is it folks, the coming of the twelve is near... my most eagerly anticipated movie of the year. It had better match up to the incredible standards set by its predecessor, the cult-legend Ocean's 11. It didn't have 9 min car chases or rape scenes, it didn't have a hail of bullets n barrells of blood, and it didn't give us meaningful insights into the philosophies of life. But was still gave us the coolest flick of the new millenium... i almost pity the guys who have to live up to their own legacy." Watched it on the opening day...duh...strange how the concept has evolved while the true essense remained. The scam was a on truly massive scale, sometimes a little too bewildering... and the winners in this movie was a complete surprise. A little funnier than ocean's 11, killer soundtrack and acting, same great style of directing. The only downside? 1 too many flashbacks to explain the final heist. It took away some of the impact. But on the whole, the improvements covered up the flaws. The legacy still lives... still one of the coolest shows this year. ole! |
