+ who needs gears? +
Recently i've been more vocal about my intention to make full use of the option to learn driving in automatic. Was expecting the usual slew of criticism from the old foggies, the automobile purists and those who already learnt to drive after failing various attempts... hehehe.... the purists were quick to point out it "ain't as fun"... to which i'd reply "do i look like i'm joining the motorcross?"... anyway with traffic lights every 300m or so kinda deflates the "fun", even if i could afford a Maserati or somethin, it just ain't value for money man... The old foggies were a lot more practical, citing higher maintenance fees, and the benefits of diversification over specialisation... well, i guess not having to repeat a driving test 8 times or so would cover those expenses...on a seperate note, in figher-pilot theory, the less u have to concentrate on flying, the more u can concentrate on fighting, or in my case, dodging drunk drivers on friday night. In all the old foggies were surprisingly easy to win over, i guess even they know the number of auto cars on the road is a rising trend. Jason provided the more hilarious points of view, even though he's not an "old foggie" per se. "what if one day your wife was in labour and u had to hijack a manual car?!" hahahaa... Very surprisingly, the staunchest disapproval came from my sis, and she's like 16 this year. And the best excuse she could muster was that it wasn't as glam as manual. Sheesh, what ARE they teaching kids nowadays? Must be too much MTV Pimp-My-Ride. She promptly switched her arguement to the "higher maintenance" one after she heard my dad say it... but really, its not like she's paying for it, hell, she could very well be getting free rides before the year is out. Maybe she's just terrified of me possibly making good of my claim to be able to drive after 1 go at the practical test. hhmmm... There were too, various words of approval as well, from those seeking the path i have chosen. Would a gal really consider a car a phallic symbol? i'm under the impression that its some twisted 60s concept, along the same lines that Elvis-impersonators are cool. A car is certainly more than just a means of getting from point A to point B, its partially a reflection of one's self. And my "self" says, "why make driving dificult?". This is such a fun topic to yap about! And it'll be even more fun once i can drive! heheheh! Cheers! *raises wine glass*
+ Eat this! +
The devil's been pissin me off lately, so i guess i'd return the favor. Friends! Romans! Countrymen! if u feel life is dealing u the shitty end of the stick, always remember: And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 Whateva has happened, God has allowed to happen. Now its up to us not to get depressed n trust Him to lead us thru His plan. Ha! i'm feelin better already! Since satan is da Father of Lies, i bet spreadin the truth around really bites! Can u dig it?! Sucka!!!!! *raises wine glass*

So we're going around tellin our folks about some old western foggie givin away free vegetables?? AND gettin ang paos for it?? Maybe a vegetarian Colonel Sanders invented Chinese New Year....hahahahha....Oh well... hard to believe its been my 3rd Chinese New Year in the army.... 3 years of "ah... you must be the son of so-and-so... how old are you? army already ar? sooo fast ah?" ... hahahaha... im not complainin, im gettin paid to update relatives on how my life is going.... it'll be quite awhile before they start buggin me to get married so im livin on easy street from here.... wonder how i'll contribute to the recovering economy with my newly acquired disposable income?... maybe i'll get the new CJC PE uniform... hahahaha.... or more ba kwa... mmmmm.... ba kwa.... fatty sinful ba kwa... well that rules out the vegetarian Colonel Sanders theory. Cheers all! Happy Chinese New Year! *raises tea cup*

+ is that love eh? +
Nowadays it seems there are a good many e-mails floating around tryin to explain what's this crazy little thing called love. Especially with Valentine's Day (aka Judgement Day, cos ultimately we're judged by what happens on that one day, disregarding the acts of the rest of the year) just around the corner. With so many differing views, each bugger downright convinced that he/she knows whats good for you, i felt inclined to ask the big man upstairs. His answer was pretty direct. 4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails;1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
Hell, it ain't just direct. Its friggin hard. Romantic, platonic or paternal, in the end it boils down to these points. And married couples can be together for a decade without puttin a tick to half of these. (Note: "Believes all things" taken in context refers to truth, cos hey, how often do we refuse to believe the truth? we're jus like that i guess) Still, an ideal loses its meaning if the guys who hear it merely dismiss it as impossible. Tough? hell yeah... impossible? maybe....... but very much still worth fightin for. As for the inevitable Valentine's Day... everyone's gonna be judging everyone else... again ...tab unhealthy. save yourself the trouble n don't do unto others for a change this year yah? Cheers all! Good luck with your comin trials! *raises wine glass* P.S. did anyone notice the acronym for Valentine's Day is VD ???

+ Gotta love the view from up here +
Ooo... wrong place at the wrong time
+ Business as usual +
oh well... finally got the time to blog again.... been a pretty crazy year at camp so far... but it will all be over sooon.... i am at peace *zen position, holy aura emitting in the background*.... Beatrice lost my favourite knife at the damn airport (who brings knives to an airport?!) but thats okkkkk..... i am at peace *zen position, holy aura still emitting in the background*... so far watched 1 good movie (Hotel Rwanda) and 1 bad movie (The Machinist).. so the ying-yang balance still holds (though i heavily regret watching The Machinist) Sorry to say..the good acting and good ending of The Machinist was unable to save the movie from a plot thinner than the male lead (check him out, you'll known what i mean). The pacing was predictable at best, downright draggy at worst. The mystery and twists in the story remind me of a watered-down version of Fight Club. Did i say watered-down? We're talking more like Noah's Ark or somethin. Watch it if you're not into horror, but into mentally-disturbing movies. Bad reviews from everyone i know saved me from watchin Elektra... But i didn't even hear about The Machinist until i watched it yesterday. So much for being adventurous. i still can't decide if it was better or worse than The Polar Express... cos they ways in which they suck are totally different. This year's music scene ain't lookin too bright either... airwaves are dominated by new "hits" such as "Filthy, Gorgeous" and "Tempted to Touch". But thankfully, God in all his wisdom, who knoweth that man cannot live on shitty music alone, has once again provided the balance and bestowed upon us, Lush 99.5 Finally there is a radio station i have no fear in tuning into for hours. A station that won't leave me cringing in agony once every 5 or so songs. The harmony is maintaineddd........ i am at peace *zen position, holy aura emitting machine starting to sputter in the background* Cheers all! *raises wine glass in zen position* |
